So, What about my heart?

LESSON 2

Discovery Of My Heart Condition

One of the first revelations I received from the Lord was about the heart. At the time I was leading a house meeting with ladies from many different denominations and I was very excited to teach about a pure heart. I led the prayer in asking the Lord to show us anything in our hearts that could grieve Him.

I was convinced that my heart was absolutely pure until I came home after the meeting.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Jer.17:9-10 KJV

The result was a deep conviction of the Holy Spirit of sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16:8). The fear of the Lord fell heavily upon me as I saw the condition of my heart. For three days I was in the river of God, undergoing a deep cleansing with much repentance and forgiveness. Through the years God has graciously done a work of sanctification in me, but yet there are deeper levels which I am discovering now by the illumination of the Holy Spirit.

Let us earnestly pray like King David, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts; and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." (Psalm 139:23-24)

Understanding Of The Heart's Position And Its Contents

Let's take a look at the heart and get an understanding of its position and its content.

You are a spiritual being, having a soul and living in a body.

The heart is the central station of our being through which everything moves - our thoughts (Ps.19:14) emotions (Phil.1:7), choices (Ps.9:1), impressions and receptivity (Acts 2:37), as well as our conscience (1 John 3:21), which is part of our spirit being. In other words the heart consists of the soul (thoughts, emotion and will) and a part of our spirit man, the conscience.

The heart stores all the hurts, wounds and rejection and then bitterness and anger take root to warp our perception.

What we think in our hearts affect the emotions; then attitudes and behavior patterns result. Dr.Caroline Leaf reports that negative thoughts build distorted neurons in the brain which cause stress on the adrenal gland, which in turn secretes toxins into the body resulting in sickness and disease.

It is necessary that the archives of the heart be cleared out through forgiveness and repentance. Then we apply the precious blood of Jesus to cleanse and heal us through the power of the Holy Spirit.

God Wants to Heal and Restore Your Heart!

The Lord has made full provision for you through His amazing sacrifice on the cross.  He wants you to fulfill your call and your destiny in Christ and bring you into a glorious freedom in His abundant life! Let us journey into your freedom together!

Prayer:  Father God, we come to You in the name of Jesus, asking that You will show us anything in our hearts that are not pleasing in Your sight.  Please give us the grace for repentance and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Thank You, Lord. Amen.

Sometimes we do not want to remember deep hurts, offenses and traumatic events.  But know that God's loving kindness has made provision for us through the blood of His Son that we can receive complete healing and restoration to walk free of all remembrance of trauma. Wholeness is your portion in Christ!  Hallelujah!

Now, simply make a list of anything that comes to your remembrance. It might surface in a dream or unexpectedly while you brush your teeth but take heed to it and write it down.

Do not try to work on it by the natural mind. Simply trust the Lord to show you and give you the grace to pray it through. When your memory is cleansed, your burden is gone and the trauma of it is removed forever so that you can prosper in all things and be in good health!
