The Role of our SENSES in Living a Holy Life.

Lesson 40

SANCTIFY YOUR NATURAL SENSES - THEN HAVE YOUR SPIRITUAL SENSES SENSITIZED

Remember, the entry point for both light and darkness is our five senses. We have both natural and spiritual senses.

So, how do I sanctify my senses?

Remember the three monkeys?  Hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil.

We have to determine in our hearts that we want to be pure and holy before God. Ask the Lord to wash your heart with the blood of Jesus of any contamination that has come in through your senses.

Therefore turn away from anything that can defile - even your inward thoughts, setting our focus on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

There are five natural senses and six spiritual senses:

In the natural - our eyes, ears, nose, taste and touch.

REMEMBER, WE SPOKE ABOUT YOUR SENSES BEING THE ENTRANCE POINT FOR GOOD AS WELL AS FOR EVIL.

What you look at - even inadvertently, will find an entryway into your soul - and could either enlighten you or darken your understanding.

Eph.4: 17 Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. 18 They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. 19 They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.

But, we have now come to Mount Zion, the Presence of the Lord. (Heb.12:22)

We are in His holy Presence

AND NOW WE EXERCISE OUR SENSES TO DISCERN BOTH GOOD AND EVIL.

This we do by extending our spiritual senses into the supernatural - to tune in to the Spirit of God to receive from Him.

These are our 5 spiritual senses

Eyes: Eph.1:19: Our eyes set on Jesus (Heb.12:1-3), enlightened by the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to know the Christ.
Ears: John 10 - "My sheep hear My voice”. Ears circumcised and tuned to the Spirit to hear what He is saying.
Nose - discernment (Heb.5:14): Discerning by the Spirit - not judging by the flesh.
taste - Ps. 34:8: Feasting on the Word and the Presence of the Lord to experience encounters with Him.
touch - Matt.9:20/ 2 Cor. 6:17:  Touching no unclean thing, but to exercising the Presence of the Lord
knower - inward witness of the HS (Romans 8:16) - having the witness of the Holy Spirit.
