Patience is a fruit of the Spirit of God and something that we all have to develop in our desire to be transformed into the image of Christ.
In my case it took a long time and many tests until God gave me a glorious key to overcome impatience. It was a major stumbling block in my life and God was so gracious to come to my rescue:
I was in a very trying situation in Tel Aviv airport, when my luggage (which was perfectly packed), was taken "apart" by security and bundled back into my suitcase in total disorder.
My films were ripped out of my camera and all the undeveloped films were destroyed. Inexplicably I started to laugh at the absurdity of the situation I was perfectly content to wait till they finished. The joy of the Lord gave me victory! Then all of a sudden I started receiving the red carpet treatment, with favor and benefits everywhere!
I caught it! The joy of the Lord is my strength and causes me to have favor! Wow!
Laughter in the face of the enemy is a weapon of destruction on our lips!
Since then I have had many other such situations, always remembering my secret weapon and every time I walked out with blessings and benefits!
Today I was ministering to someone on the phone, when the Lord revealed the cause of a sudden injury. The root cause was that my sister has been having a lot of frustrating situations around her and she started getting impatient with the Lord for not having answered her prayers yet; and also got impatient with everyone else around her. This left her discontented, frustrated, irritated, murmuring and complaining (anybody been there?) - an open door for the enemy to trip her up, causing a fall with several injuries.
After the glory light of God's revelation shone into this area in her soul, exposing the work of the enemy, she repented and received victory too, together with a physical miracle! Peace and joy flooded her soul. His Kingdom came!
When we enter into the rest of the Lord, we leave everything, including timing in His hands, putting our full trust in Him. Assured that He works out everything together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes. Hallelujah!
If you have experienced impatience with all the side-effects of it, bring it before the Lord in repentance. Then hand over these things to the Lord and trust Him to work it out for your good. Then count it all joy, rejoicing in His goodness and grace over your life.
Patience is also an attribute of love (1 Cor.13). Let's grow into it and let it have its perfect work in us until we are complete in Him.
James 1:4 (KJV)
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Patience (hupomone): cheerful (or hopeful), endurance, constancy, enduring, patient continuance.
perfect (teleios): complete (in various applications of labor, growth, mental and moral character); of full age, perfect.
entire : complete in every part, i.e.perfectly sound, entire, whole.
